Cairns Hospital Leads the Way
Saving lives while helping save the environment is the goal of a groundbreaking partnership between the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, Containers for Change and Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. This new partnership brings Containers for Change bins to Cairns Hospital, strategically placed both at the front and back of house. Here, patients, visitors, and staff can easily donate their empty drink containers.
It’s more than just recycling; it’s about transforming everyday actions into tangible benefits for the community. For every container recycled, a 10-cent refund goes directly to the hospital’s foundation. These funds will help with initiatives aimed at nurturing the health and well-being of the community in Far North Queensland.
Gina Hogan, the Foundation’s CEO, says "We're thrilled to be part of this effort. It’s a fantastic opportunity to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility within our community. Every container recycled not only helps reduce waste but also generates funds that support vital health care services in Far North Queensland. And being situated right on the beautiful Cairns Esplanade, we’re all very environmentally conscious as it is."
With bins now stationed across 34 wards and key spots like dCafe and SeaBreeze Café at Cairns Hospital, this partnership signifies a shared commitment to our environment and community well-being.
