Award entries will be judged against the following criteria. To give yourself the very best chance of winning please be sure to consider these points when completing your awards entry.

Awards 1 - 4 | Refund Point Awards

Awards 5 - 8 | Community Awards
Young Change Maker of the Year
This award is to recognise people under the age of 18 who are achieving amazing things through Containers for Change.
Please note, only parents and guardians may submit a nomination for this award on behalf of the Young Change Maker.
Respondents will be asked to explain in 250 or more words how they (or the person they are nominating) are creating positive change for their local community, a charity or the environment and why they are a deserving winner of the 2024 Young Change Maker of the Year Award.
Respondents will be asked to consider:
- What motivated the nominee to start collecting containers?
- How does the nominee collect containers?
- How many containers does the nominee collect a week/month/year?
- How much money has the nominee raised?
- What does the nominee do with the money raised through container refunds?
- Why does the nominee think the Containers for Change scheme is important?
A high-res JPEG photograph is encouraged to be uploaded with all applications. Other documentation to support your application may also be uploaded with your entry.
Charity/Community Group of the Year
The Charity / Community Group of the Year Award recognises Queensland charities and community groups using small change from container refunds to make big change for important causes.
Respondents will be asked to explain in 250 or more words how their charity or community group (or the charity or community group they are nominating) has made a positive impact using the Containers for Change scheme.
Points you may like to consider for inclusion in your response are:
- What motivated your organisation to participate in the scheme?
- How do you collect containers/encourage others to donate containers to your charity or community group?
- How many containers do you return a week/month/year?
- How much money has your charity or community group raised through the scheme?
- What have you been able to achieve for your cause or community as a result of funds raised through container refunds?
Entrants are encouraged to upload supporting documentation and/or photos to accompany their nomination. Photographs must be high-res JPEG files.
School of the Year
The School of the Year Award recognises Queensland schools using small change from container refunds to make big change.
Respondents will be asked to explain in 250 or more words how their school (or the school they are nominating) has made a positive impact using the Containers for Change scheme.
Points you may like to consider for inclusion in your response are:
- What motivated your school to participate in the scheme?
- How do you collect containers/encourage others to donate containers to your school?
- How many containers do you return a week/month/year?
- How much money has your school raised through the scheme?
- What have you been able to achieve for your school as a result of funds raised through container refunds?
Entrants are encouraged to upload supporting documentation and/or photos to accompany their nomination. Photographs must be high-res JPEG files.
Award 9 | Change Maker of the Year
All finalists for awards 1-8 will automatically be shortlisted for the 2024 Change Maker of the Year. The Judging Panel will then vote to determine the Change Maker of the Year, providing feedback on their choice.

Finalists
The three entries with the most points will become automatic finalists with the final winner being the entry with the highest points. In the instance of a tied score the judging panel may request input from COEX's Executive Leadership Team to select a winner.
The Judging Panel will then undertake an anonymous vote to determine the Change Maker of the Year.
All award finalists will be announced in October and the category award winners will be announced at the Change Maker Awards on Thursday 7th November.
